Sipi falls adventure was founded in 2016 by MUSORO FRANCIS. Born and raised in sipi community who was passionate about tourism.
Our goal is to provide the best outdoor activities to the clients who visits sipi falls community and beyond. Our mission is to benefit the community through giving employment opportunities to tour guides, receptionists , and also enable them to provide local products like crafts, shoes, handbags, local food etc.
ABOUT SIPI FALLS
sipibis a hidden gem located at the slopes of Mount elgon in eastern Uganda. Sipifalls is one of the most famous destinations in Uganda “name hike paradise “which offers amazing hiking adventure activities including hiking sipifalls, abseiling, coffee tour experience, sunset walk and rock climbing experience.
The history of sipi falls,the beautiful sipifalls water falls were named after the sipi river which in turn was named after a local grown plant called “SEP”.the plant is grown near the bottom of of the waterfalls a wild banana and is used for several purposes by the local people near the sipi falls its a local medicine ,the seeds are used for playing obesity games and also used as flowers in the nearby homes and lodges mostly the fruits are eaten by monkeys.
MOUNT ELGON HIKE.
Mount elgon is one of the volcanic mountains in eastern Uganda of its the highest peak called “wagagai ” Which Stands at an elevation of 4321 meters above sea level and it’s believed to be the oldest volcano in the whole world. It’s the second highest mountain in Uganda and the eights highest in Africa where travelers can hike to the highest peak as you enjoy the beautiful sceneries and landscape.
SIPI FALLS WATERFALLS
Sipi falls is a series of three water falls in eastern Uganda within the district of kapchorwa, sironko, and mbale town. the waterfalls lies on the edges of mount national park near border of Kenya. sipifalls waterfalls starts from mount elgon and this waters are from small water streams they keep on collecting themselves in a valley and flows down forming sipi falls as it depends down the lower plains of karamajo
The main sipifalls (kaptogolo) waterfalls is one of the most spectacular falls with a hight of one hundred meters, you can hike both to bottom and top of the falls as you enjoy the amazing stunning views of lower plains of karamajo .the trail to the water falls are well maintained by the community people as you pass through the coffee and banana plantations and this gives you a chance to interact with community people, learn about the local language and some some common words like “mwene” a local word meaning how are you.as you proceed to the second waterfalls
Sipi second waterfalls is called “chepkui 2”,the smallest waterfalls in sipi with a hight of 65meters from the top to the bottom. this water falls is considered the most romantic waterfalls in sipi reason being is it gives an opportunity to take a lovely shower under it and also you can go behind the beautiful man made cave which was dug by the people of long ago with a purpose of collecting salt for their animals
Sipi falls trail also gives a cool breeze as you pass through a mini-forest with a variety of bird species and bee hives as you proceed on to the top of this waterfalls here is a beautiful rapid water falls and a natural swimming pool which will act as a refreshing point as you proceed to the the first waterfalls
The third waterfalls is named after a village called “chepukoch”which is eighty five meters hight and its the second highest waterfalls among the three waterfalls in sipi ,this waterfalls will give you a chance to pass through the natural Bridge and the green vegetation covering the water falls makes it more unique and beautiful, this falls will give you a chance to visit the bottom as you enjoy the roaring sounds of water and at the same time if the weather is clear enough you have a chance to view the beautiful rainbow. At this waterfalls you can choose to hike both to the top of it which is call the upper loop which will offer you an amazing view of the land where people leave with the plains views as you have an aerial view of the waterfalls.
What to do at sipi falls falls
Sipi falls offers the best adventure activities that makes you won’t forget your experience and this activities include the following SIPI FALLS HIKE. Sipi falls consists of three waterfalls you hike to all the three water falls right from the smallest to the biggest and this covers the rapid waterfalls, swimming pool and the artificial man made cave taking different hiking trails. COFFEE TOUR EXPERIENCE. This activity involves walking for a few minutes to the village. The tour will be conducted by local farmers who are going to take you through the entire experience, you get to learn practical work like roasting beans and grinding the original beans to coffee powder at the end of the day you will make a cup of coffee made by your own selves right from the tree to cup. ABSEILING at sipi. This is an adventure activity done at the main sipi falls. It involves decending down as you enjoy the entire view of the valley and sipi falls. This is the most famous and instagramable activity that everyone must do while at staying at sipi falls and there is no sipi falls without abseiling.

Sipi falls is surrounded by kalenjins the sub-tribe called the sabinys who live in the slopes of Mount Elgon and they speak a local language known “kubsabiny” and if you want to remember the language well you say ” cook some beans” The sabinys are well known of several activities like running in the mountains, cultures like like circumcisions and farming. In the history of Olympics sabinys have lifted up the Uganda flag for both long and short distance running in 2012 Stephen kiprotich won a long distance marathon in London. Joshua cheptegei of Uganda won 5000 meters and 10,000 and holds the world best time runner over the q5 killo meter distance, at 2022 world athletic championship in engenge . Peruth chemutai a Ugandan female runner won gold medal in the women 3000 meters steeplechase at 2020. The sabinys are well known of there interesting cultures like circumcision of both boys and girls from the age of q8 years and above which is a sign initiation from childhood to adulthood, although female gentle mutilation (fgm) is abolished due to several reasons like taking long to heal , currently boys circumcision is one of the most famous cultures within the community which is done after every even number. Circumcision of the sabinys has also influence some of the neighboring tribes like the bagisu’s who lives in the slopes of Mount Elgon and these was caused by intermarriages between the sabinys and the bagisu’s The sabinys were also cattle keepers who used to rare a large herds of cows, goats and sheep but due to tribal wars with the karamajongs who believe that all cattle belongs to them , therefore these raiding by the karamajongs forced them to abandon cattle keeping and practicing crop cultivate including growing of coffee, bananas, matooke, Irish potatoes, cabbages and vegetable growing. Currently the sabinys are believed to be the best farmers in Uganda who produces the best Arabica coffee grown in the slopes of Mount Elgon which is on an elevation of 1500-2000 meters above sea level there fore attracting many tourists to several activities like coffee tour experience, and other coffee businesses worldwide, currently coffee is the major cash crop earner boosting the peoples standards of living through employment opportunities from so many companies who buys coffee from local farmers including KAWACOM and ZUKUKA BORA. Kapchorwa is a district located in eastern Uganda which is bordered by kween, and bukwo district, kapchorwa in a local language of kubsabiny means ” Home of friends ” Stephen kiprotich from Uganda the world champion who is the brand ambassador of ” AQUA SIPI WATER “, which was taken from sipi river “sipi second waterfalls “. These water is drunk by most of the local people in kapchorwa and in most hotels and lodges in sipi. Aqua sipi in our local mother language means ” come to sipi”.
